Terms & Conditions

The ground rules for using the Lake Catatoga Connect community website.

Last updated July 29, 2026

Agreement

Lake Catatoga Connect is operated by the Lake Catatoga Association for the benefit of the lake community. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Accounts and roles

  • You must provide your real first and last name and a working email address. Accounts that impersonate someone else will be removed.
  • New accounts begin as visitors. Resident and homeowner access is granted after an administrator verifies you against the association roster. Each member holds a single role reflecting their highest level of access.
  • Accounts are personal. Do not share your sign-in link or password, and tell an administrator if you believe your account has been compromised.
  • Name and email changes on an account are performed by an administrator so that the roster stays accurate.

Community conduct

This is a neighborhood space. When posting, do not:

  • Harass, threaten, demean, or personally attack another member.
  • Post another person's address, phone number, photo, or other private details without their permission.
  • Post unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or hateful material.
  • Use the site for commercial solicitation, spam, political campaigning, or fundraising unrelated to the community.
  • Copy restricted homeowner documents, meeting materials, member contact details, or key holder information off the site or share them with people outside the community.
  • Attempt to bypass access controls, scrape the site, or interfere with its operation.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you grant the association a non-exclusive license to display, store, and distribute that content on this site and in community email such as the weekly digest. You are responsible for having the rights to anything you upload, including photos and videos of other people.

Homeowner submissions are generally published immediately; posts from other roles may be reviewed before they appear.

Events and RSVPs

Event hosts are responsible for the accuracy of their listings and for anything that happens at their event. RSVPs are a courtesy to the host and are not a ticket or a contract. Private events and their details are visible only to invited members; do not forward those details to others. The association does not sponsor, insure, or supervise member-hosted events.

Marketplace and service directory

Listings and reviews are posted by members. The association does not inspect items, verify sellers, endorse service providers, or take part in any transaction. All sales, hires, payments, and disputes are strictly between the parties involved, and you use your own judgment at your own risk. Do not list firearms, alcohol, controlled substances, live animals, or anything whose sale is restricted by law. Mark items sold or remove them once they are gone, and keep reviews factual and based on your own experience.

Association documents

Governing documents, meeting minutes, forms, and meeting packages are provided for the convenience of homeowners. Where a posted file differs from the association's official recorded records, the official records govern. Nothing on this site is legal, financial, or professional advice.

Moderation and enforcement

Administrators and moderators may hide, edit, or remove content, lock comment threads, and suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. Moderation and administrative actions are recorded in an internal log. If you believe something was removed in error, contact an administrator through the Board & contacts page.

Availability

The site is provided as-is and as-available, without warranties of any kind. It is maintained by volunteers and may be offline, change, or lose features at any time. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the association, its board members, and volunteers are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or from member content posted on it.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the site evolves. The revision date at the top reflects the current version, and continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to the association secretary through the Board & contacts page on this site.
